Lorain County JVS (Website | Profile) students in the carpentry and cosmetology programs “traded places” recently and spent time learning about each other’s program.
Carpentry students visited the cosmetology lab and were treated to haircuts, eyebrow waxes and paraffin hand treatments.
Cosmetology students will soon visit the carpentry lab and work with a fellow student to build their own personal tool boxes.
“The purpose of this experience was two-fold,” stated Cosmetology Instructor Kim Wooley. “The cosmetology students practiced their skills on some willing participants and the carpentry students reinforced their knowledge by teaching their skills to someone else.”
“As an added bonus it created a great comradery among classes,” continued Wooley, “and students gained a new respect for the hard work and talent needed to succeed in the cosmetology and carpentry professions.”
