8/28 -- Could the WestShore Commuter Rail become a reality by 2016?  Richard Enty thinks so!  Who is Richard Enty?  He is, in my opinion, a young and enthusiastic rail and transit advocate, retired  from the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, and now working for Lorain County as Interim General Manager of our  much-reduced Lorain County Transit and as the Project Director for the WestShore Commuter Rail Project (WSCRP), which proposes Commuter Rail Service on an existing Norfolk-Southern line extending from Cleveland (Cuyahoga County) westward thru Avon/Avon Lake; Lorain; Vermilion (Erie County) and into Sandusky.  Full Story
Acute Care for the Elderly Unit Opens at EMH Regional Medical Center

8/9 -- To accommodate the health care needs of our community's seniors, EMH Regional Medical Center (Website | Profile) has opened an Acute Care for the Elderly, or "ACE" unit on the hospital's 11th floor. Custom-designed for seniors with acute illnesses such as pneumonia or congestive heart failure, the ACE unite strives to prevent complications while assisting patients with retaining their mobility and independence.
