Firelands Endowment Fund Presents A Taste of Firelands
9/2 -- Saturday, September 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Firelands Schools Endowment Fund will host a wine tasting at Matus Winery (Website | Profile), 15674 Gore Orphanage Rd. Tickets are $25 for 8 samples. Extra tickets will be available for those wanting additional tastings. There will also be a silent auction. Light refreshments will be served. Full Story
Lorain County JVS Honors Graduates Who Served in the Armed Forces

9/2 -- The Lorain County JVS (Website | Profile) would like to honor graduates who are military veterans, or who are currently serving in the Armed Forces. The names and photographs of these men and women will be placed on a "Military Wall of Honor" that is currently being constructed at the school. The wall will be dedicated in a special ceremony on November 10th. The ceremony will coincide with the Veteran’s Day and the Marine Corp’s birthday. Full Story

Right to Literacy Scroll Comes to Lorain County!

8/23 -- The Lorain County Urban League (Website | Profile) is hosting The Right to Literacy Scroll this week at various locations to bring awareness to the importance of raising literacy levels across the United States. The Right to Literacy Scroll, a project of the advocacy group, Literacy Powerline has been signed by thousands of elected officials, adult learners, volunteers, service providers, businesses, faith leaders, educational organizations, foundations, and community residents in 31 states and 76 cities. FREE Career Exploration Seminar to be Offered in August

8/16 -- The JVS Adult Career Center (Website | Profile) will be offering a free 2-day seminar to assist Lorain County residents with exploring new careers and finding a job with today's job search tools. The seminar will be held Tuesday, August 24th and Thursday, August 26th from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM each day.
