Charleston Village - Spring?
Loraine Ritchey, CVSI

part of the landscape
It doesn't look much like Spring, but it is coming ! We have been "snowed in and snowed under" for a few weeks- things have still been happening:
Charleston Village Pioneer Cemetery
First the bad news: CVSI did apply for a grant for the Charleston Pioneer Cemetery, to have a professional archeological survey and imaging done of the site,in order that Diane could document the historical aspect of Lorain's oldest cemetery more comprehensively and coupled with that request funding for a "pioneer sculpture" to act as a centerpiece. However, we unfortunately did not receive favourable funding news for this particular part of the project. We haven't given up though and will continue to try and promote the historical significance of this integral part of Lorain's history.

2nd Street Sculptures

Thanks to Gary Fischer of Arkinetics, who met with us on a cold and blustery day we have a "visual" ( pictured) of what type of landscaping we would like to see to "set off" the sculptures on 2nd Street.

We are in the VERY early stages of this part of the project. There is a lot to do to make this "blossom" into reality. Fingers crossed, the concept is old stone walls ( field stone- recycled sandstone) that would've been found in the "old country" -plantings native to Ohio ( very little maintenance) tall grasses and importantly a "fragrant planting" so all the senses are touched when people visit plus a few lilacs ( since Lorain was the Lilac City). These planting all have to be in line with the policy of First Energy and the City of Lorain.

Have you checked K Cream Corner lately? There is a "just ducky" sign for all to see that will hopefully herald more creativity on that piece of property!

Outreach
The speakers program continues, Dave has been seen as Captain Wilford and I am speaking at Rotary along with Bud Emerson tomorrow.
