Have you noticed in and around the "village" through Portside back to 7th a new crop of signs. Our thanks go to Mr. Camera of the Lorain Street Dept. Every so often the street signs in in Lorain have to be replaced due to wear and tear. Mr. Camera pointed out to CVSI that the signs in our neighborhood were due and the possibility of identifying the "oldest neighborhood and Lorain's birthplace" on those signs.
We had to come up with a logo (now that can be expensive) but as the Bicentennial Committee had had various designs submitted as a donation by a professional designer; we thought this might be a great fit espcially since we are celebrating the 200 years of settlement and the logo was used for that celebration. As part of the celebration the Lorain Street Dept was able to get some of the signs along the trolley route up in time for the "party"
The designer Chris Ritchey(Wyse Advertsing/Cleveland )and CV resident worked with Mr. Camera on the files etc needed to implement production. Although the logo is the same you will note that the Portside area of CV signs have the logo and Portside 1807 and the rest of the streets in CV have Charleston Village 1834.
It is hoped that this program might spread to other neighborhoods/ areas of Lorain to showcase their distinctive history.
