| For the past 5 years I have served as the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Elyria and have been with the Law Director's Office for a total of 24 years. I am also Acting Law Director for the City of Elyria and former Acting Law Director for the City of North Ridgeville. Additionally, I am a Chief Prosecutor in the Elyria Municipal Court for the Village of Grafton and Acting Prosecutor for the City of North Ridgeville and the Village of LaGrange. I was in private practice with the Law Firm of Grunda and Grunda. |

| I am a graduate of the Lorain City Schools and graduated in 1979 from Lorain Admiral King High School. My Bachelor of Arts Degree was from the University of Toledo in 1983 and my Juris Doctorate Degree is from Ohio Northern University College of Law in Ada, Ohio in 1986. I have taken continuing education courses since passing the bar exam to keep abreast of changes in the law. |

| I have been a legal seminar presenter and speaker for various law enforcement agencies and the Lorain County Bar Associations, legal classes at Lorain County Community College, and the National Organization of Victim Assistance. I am a graduate of Leadership Lorain County Class of 2004 as well as an active member of the following: Lorain County Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Vermilion Boat Club, Elks Club, United States Power Squadron. |

| My parents are Joseph and Joyce Grunda and I have been a lifelong resident of Lorain County and a resident of the City of Elyria for 24 years. My Father, Joe, is a former Lorain County Prosecutor. I am from a large family consisting of: Two brothers; Joe, a super modified race car driver, Jeff, a carpenter, and two sisters; Joyce, a Legal Assistant, and Justine, a housewife. I am an Uncle to two nephews and four nieces. My life has been enriched with strong family values and encouragement and support from my family. |
| Why are you running for public office? |
| I feel I am the most qualified candidate to run for the Office of Elyria City Law Director. This is predicated on my 24 years of experience and dedication as a public servant. I possess the requisite knowledge of the law, plus, the experience, an most of all the respect and integrity to fill the position due to the anticipated retirement of the present Law Director, Terry S. Shilling. I have dedicated my legal career to serving the citizens of Elyria and my community. My work experience and dedication has uniquely qualified me to effectively administer the duties of the Office of Elyria City Law Director. |
| What would you like to accomplish if elected or if re-elected? |
| If elected, I intend to continue those policies and procedures which allow the Law Director's Office to run effectively for the past twenty-five years with its dedicated staff. My firsthand knowledge of working in the Elyria City Law Director's Office on a daily basis for the past 24 years has given me the skills to carry out the duties of this office. Additionally, I would like to improve the Criminal Division by adding new programs to make the citizens and our community a safe place to live. |
| In what ways can web, mobile and social technology be used in the government sector? |
| The use of technology in the 21st Century has facilitated the services of all governmental offices. I will create a more efficient system to deal with the matters of the Law Director's Office using technology. The use of technology will reduce the amount of paper and makes the office more environmentally friendly. In an effort to reduce paper and storage issues, the Law Director's Office has implemented scanning procedures which facilitates a quicker and more efficient information retrieval system. The Law Director's Office is currently linked electronically to other Departments and Court Systems that utilize the Electronic Filing System, which makes document transmission more effective and efficient. The ultimate goal of increasing the use of technology will allow the Law Director's Office to become more green. |
| What
one bit of information do people not normally know about you? |
| My first love is law but my second love is boating! I am a boating enthusiast and have been a boater for the majority of my life. It serves as a wonderful family activity and many members of my family are still actively involved in boating when we have the opportunities to be together. I enjoy navigation and have traveled to four of the five Great Lakes. My Father, Joseph R. Grunda, and I enjoy plotting out a course to a destination and exploring new ports and harbors.
