The Lorain County Community Alliance (Website | Profile) will host its 10th Annual Summit on Friday, Oct. 2nd, 2009 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Lorain County Administration Building. Featured speakers include Ohio State Senator and Minority Leader, Capri Cafaro; Ohio's 49th Attorney General, Richard Cordray and Executive Director of the Ohio Township Association, Michael H. Cochran. This year's theme is "Regionalism Revitalization 2010."
Each of these individuals brings a wealth of knowledge to share: Capri, a former member of the Ohio Rail Development Commission, was a presenter at the April All Aboard Ohio Annual Legislative Summit in Columbus. She displayed her knowledge of rail, transit and all issues relating to the State, in answering questions from the floor. Cordray, a former Ohio State Treasurer, Franklin County Treasurer, Ohio State Solicitor and Ohio State Representative, was the first appointee to the position of State Solicitor under Lt. Governor, Lee Fisher, some l8 years ago when Lee served as Attorney General. Cochran has been Executive Director of the Ohio Township Association for over 30 years and is presently a member of the Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration.

SEPTEMBER SONG AT CAMP CHRISTOPHER, BATH TOWNSHIP, SUMMIT COUNTY
Camping at its finest can be found at this wonderful spot! In celebration of its 85th Anniversary held this past summer, Tim Lilley and Patti Longville have published "A TRIBUTE TO CAMPING AT ITS FINEST." A hardcover bound, over 200 pages and containing 200 pictures "SUMMER OF '70" is a loving "Rah, Rah for Christopher."
Because we first were introduced to Camp Christopher by my Sister, Loretta Myers-Forthofer, I thought this book would be a perfect birthday gift for her. It was the Summer of 1962, and her Family included ours with their vacation. It has become a life-long love affair, extending on into the next generation, as two of my Grandchildren spend their Summers working at this Camp. For the past 47 years, off and on, we have been represented in some fashion. It is the Spirit of Camp Christopher that causes us to return again and again.
September Song is an added attraction for those 55 and older. It's interesting to see former Counselors, such as Tim Lilley and his wife, Patti Longville, now attending September Song as Campers. Of course, I tell them that I am not old enough yet, and prefer the regular family camp atmosphere!
GROWING OLD from my life-long friend, Sheila Kisseberth Curlin of Jacksonville, Florida:
"Lord, You know better than I know myself that I am growing older, and will some day be old.
Keep me from getting talkative, and particularly from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.
Release me from craving to try to straighten out everybody's affairs.
I ask for grace enough to listen to the tales of others' pains. Help me to endure them with patience.
But seal my lips on my own aches and pains- - - they are increasing and my love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.
Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally it is possible that I may be mistaken.
Keep me reasonably sweet: I do not want to be a saint - some of them are so hard to live with - but a sour old bore is one of the crowning works of the devil.
Make me thoughtful, but not moody; helpful, but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all - but You know, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end."
