Re: The stadium issue.. |
 |
Message: |
Just to be clear...Issue 26 is NOT to build a new stadium. It is to renovate the existing stadium by adding seats, making it ADA complaint, renovating the restroom facilities, locker rooms and concession stands, and adding artificial turf.
Memorial Stadium, in its current condition, is an embarrasment to Avon Lake. The away locker room has one urinal. Imagine the Westlake, Brecksville or Amherst Varsity Football team's players in there at half-time. Young teens run wild at the games because there is no place for them to sit. Thank goodness the fall sports season is almost over because the field is a muddy mess again.
Passing Issue 26 will help the local economy in the long run too. Local businesses and restaurants will benefit if we can host more contests that accomodate more people. Right now, many away fans do not come to our stadium because there is no place to sit and because, quite frankly, they do not want to use a port-a-potty.
The federal stimulus money (your tax dollars) will be spent somewhere in the state of Ohio, but only by those communities who pass their bond issues on November 3rd. This is our only opportunity to get that money. Why not keep it in Avon Lake? |
