Advance Youth Development League
Please
Note Dates (Updated)

Advance Volleyball in cooperation with the newly
completed Splash Zone Sports Center is once again leading the way to quality
volleyball training for our youth. The Advance Youth Development League will
be added to our programming starting in December.
What is the AYDL(Advance Youth
Development League)?
This league is designed for players’ ages 9 through 14
years old that would like to train and participate in tournaments without
the travel and expense of our USAV Junior Olympics program. The league will
consist of 11 training days (once per
week - Tuesday evenings: 6:30 - 8:30) and 2 tournaments (TBA -
dates to be
determined) all at the same location.
Where will the AYDL be held?
The Splash Zone Aquatic Center in Oberlin, Ohio. The
address is 95 West Hamilton St., Oberlin, Ohio. Visit their website at
www.loraincountymetroparks.com.
Who can participate?
All area youth from 9 years old up to and including 14
years old interested in learning and playing the game of volleyball. Players
will be evaluated and placed on teams according to their age and/or skill
level. It is our plan to have 3 age groups; 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Teams
will be assembled for competitiveness and not “loaded” for dominance so that
everyone may learn, compete and have fun.
Who will coach?
Each team will be trained and coached by one of our USAV
certified coaching staff following the same guidelines and techniques that
has made Advance Volleyball a leader in volleyball training. Some group
training as well as individual skills training will take place during these
sessions. Guest appearances by our college coaching colleagues may take
place as well.
What will the participants receive?
2 hours of
evaluation & placement. The First Tuesday (Dec 1st, 2009) of
Training will be the Evaluation evening. (The experience of a tryout but without fear of
rejection)
22 hours of
quality volleyball training.
2 USAV style
tournament days (with qualified officials)
t-shirt for practices.
Issued Jerseys for Tournaments
How much does it cost?
In these
economic times we have tried to keep this cost at a minimum so as many young
people as possible can participate. One time fee will be $320.00. This fee
must be paid on or before December 9, 2009. No equipment will be issued
unless this fee is paid in full and participant may be subject to exclusion
from the program.
When does it start?
Evaluation and
placement will take place on December 1 , 2009 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.
Several things
will take place at these times. In addition to the evaluation process,
sizing and equipment requirements will be determined. If friends are traveling
together consideration will be made to keep that group together
on the same team. Also, if at the end of the evaluation process we feel the
participant may be better served by our technical training sessions, we will
discuss that with parents as well.
Training will
continue on Tuesday evenings from December through February 9, 2010.
Tournament
dates have yet to be determined but may take place on Saturdays or another
weeknight.
