session 2   12:30 pm to 6:00 pm:   All 12s Teams Through 14s

** Note:  This session is longer because of the age groups **

MANDATORY for all PLAYERS & COACHES

Note:   If a player cannot make their scheduled time, they may attend  the other classroom

session and get certified at a different age group.

Note:    A player may stay for more then 1 session to get both certifications.

By rules of the OVR, Every team must have a certified 2nd Ref and a Certified Scorekeeper.

Advance feels it is unfair that only a couple of girls on the team should take full responsibility in those duties during the whole season.  We created the clinic to get a majority of all our players certified so that  1) officiating duties are fair to every teammate   2) to satisfy the needs of the OVR   3) to make all duties on the team equal.   4) it makes the player an educated player.

Advance's 1st Ref/Score Clinic

NOTHING BUT THE BEST

A little about our Referees

Ken Nelson has working with Advance in our Ref Clinic since its inception in 2004.  Ken is a Certified

OVR Referee and makes the drive from Pa. every year to work us.  Ken also refs High School & College   level matches.

Patty Salvatore  is probably one of the most soft spoken woman you would ever meet, but when it comes to volleyball decisions very few referees get the respect she does from Coaches & Players alike.  Mrs. Salvatore is & has to be, probably one of the most recognized volleyball referees in the world.  She has refereed at every level that volleyball has to offer and probably one of few referees, if not, the only referee that has worked both Men's & Women's NCAA Division I College matches.  AVP Men's and Womens Beach Professional matches.  Men's & women's Olympic Indoor Matches as well as the Olympic Beach Matches.  She is a certified International Referee

and travels the world every year, reffing the most prestigious events that Volleyball has to offer.  Here are a couple of Patty's Milestones:

  • Patty Salvatore First Female Referee to Officiate Olympic Indoor Volleyball

  • in 1995 was also part of the first all-woman partnership to referee AVP Professional beach volleyball

  • One of the first referees to work the Olympics both as a beach ref and as an indoor ref

  • Participated in the first time, an all-female team has taken charge of an FIVB Volleyball match

  • Patty has also refs in the World Games and is National Outdoor Rules Interpreter

  • currently the USAV Beach Rules Interpreter

  • Patty is also on the board for the OHIO Valley Region (OVR)

  • NOTE:  These are just a few of Patty's Accolades and we are blessed and honored that she makes the effort to help Advance in what we consider a First Class (Juniors Reffing & Scorekeeping Clinic) that no other club rivals.

  PLAYERS – Getting Registered

Special Note:    In the past, if you were certified in both, Advance would permit you to make  the Clinic Optional.  However; with the Substantial rule changes that affect the 2nd Referee we are asking you to come in for a review of the new rules.

  • Clinic - Just because you attended the clinic, doesn't mean you are certified.

  • Any girl attending the 2nd Referee during the clinic will get Advance Lanyards & Whistles.

  • Certification - You will receive a card that will need to travel with you to tournaments

  • Both certifications are good for 2 years.  If you have a card that says 2009 it is expired...

  • If you don't pass or get an opportunity to get certified, you may get certified at a tournament, tell your coach and they will help you notify the referees at the tournament.

  • If you get certified at a tournament (paperwork needs to go to coach "D" so he may enter  you in the computer so it will acknowledge you next year as well.

  • If you played for a different club last year, your club director should of put your certification into the computer, so when I registered you this year your certification would of shown up with your personal information record.   Note:   if you have your card or score sheet from last year, get it to me and I will get you registered.  If you were in ADVANCE club and got certified and not on the list – Let me (coach D) know and I will go back to my records.. If you decide to get registered at a tourney, you need to show me your card or scoresheet & again I will register you.

Note:  Tournament/League & Program Director(s)  reserve the right to change the Tournament/League and program Rules & Policies as posted on our websites deemed necessary or appropriate without prior notice.
