  Weather Issues & Cancellations

During the season there may be times that a winter storm or some other adverse condition occurs on your practice or on tournament day. In the event that something causes you to question what may be happening regarding our scheduled events please refer to the following:

  1. Always Check The Website

  1. School closings have NO EFFECT on our schedule. If things improve through the day we can still have practice that evening. (Exception - Vincent, if school closes no practice)

  2. We will sometimes cancel practices based on the weather IN OUR AREA and will post it on the website at the earliest possible time. Do NOT call coaches or directors to ask questions about weather or to tell us how nice it is where you are.  We recommend that you ALWAYS check the website before leaving home to make sure something hasn’t changed, regardless of conditions.

  3. If conditions exist that you feel are unsafe to travel in; please, do not venture out. Use your own judgment and logic to decide. Of course, this will NOT be held against you. We want everyone to be safe. If you make a decision not to attend PLEASE call your coach and let them know. I have spent entire practices worrying about and calling 1 player just to discover they chose not to come out. If you don’t call that may be considered a strike. (See 3 strike policy).

  4. Lastly, Advance will always error on the side of caution. This year the OVR has instituted a policy that allows us to recoup our tournament entry fee should a LEVEL 2 snow emergency exist in OUR home county or the county we are traveling to. In years past we have lost entry fees because we chose not to have our players and parents travel in unsafe conditions. We will continue to use our best judgment in determining when we would cancel a tournament. We will try to make up any missed date but can NOT guarantee it. Again, it is important to check the website on a consistent basis to catch

  5. any changes or determinations.

Looking for a 13 Player

Ø      Players Needed: 13s & Under teams.  We have  1 spot, if you know of a player that may want to participate in JOs for the 13s team, we would like to have them go through a brief tryout to see if they are a fit.  We just won’t take an athlete to fill the spots. They will have to go thru a short training session to review their skills

(Note: Full Participation begins after the H. S. Basketball Season)

We believe that our approach is somewhat unique compared to other organizations. There are many quality

programs available depending on what the athlete is looking for and willing to sacrifice for the sport.

We are pleased to have several of these area clubs listed on our website.

Advance is not looking for large numbers of players or forming too many teams. We offer our Advance Technical Training Program to include as many athletes as possible in conjunction with the JO Program.

By limiting the size of the organization we can ensure that enough quality coaches will be available to

instruct each team in the manner befitting the Advance Philosophy.

Advance is limiting participation in our JO Program to those athletes that are interested in pursuing

volleyball as their main sport. That is not to say that they will not be allowed to participate in other activities,

only that they place volleyball and the opportunities Advance is offering above those activities. Please

read through all the information available on our website to gain an insight into who we are and what we

believe. Also, following the recommendations of the OVR please research other clubs to be sure which ever

one you select, it will serve your needs.
